But this isn’t just a facelift. We’ve grown, both in size and ambition. Our new look reflects our position as the go-to hub for all things biochar in Europe, from research and policy to market reports and industry collaboration. It’s bolder, clearer, and future-focused—just like us.
Our work has expanded massively since we started in 2019, and the industry has changed too. With biochar playing an increasingly significant role in carbon removal, sustainable agriculture, green metallurgy, waste management, and construction materials like concrete and asphalt, we chose a name that reflects our expanding scope and role.
Biochar Europe reflects our ambition to lead the biochar charge in the EU. Whether it’s advocating for biochar’s place in carbon removal certifications or contributing to the associated synergies.
We may look different, but our mission remains the same: to support the biochar industry as a key driver of carbon removal, soil health, and sustainable development. We’re here to help biochar become a permanent part of the EU’s carbon neutrality goals, and we’re excited to continue this journey with you—our partners, members, and advocates.
